In July this year, we ran our 2021 Boroondara Student Sustainability Leadership Summit event. We saw 100 Grade 5 and Grade 6 students from 10 local primary schools present their ideas on an environmental sustainability topic. They also ran a series of fun activities and challenges related to their topic. The students explored ideas around beekeeping, recycling the right way, FOGO and rubbish-free lunches.

Madison is a local primary school student who attended the event. She said it was exciting to see people gathering together and working for the same cause.

“I loved how at the summit everyone there genuinely cared about our planet and how we treat it,” Madison said. “I came to save my future.”

Madison said there was a lot to learn on the day from all the other students.

“I also loved all of the great presentations that the other students made too,” she said.

Students who presented at the summit will have the opportunity to share more about their projects with other schools in the coming months.
