Council is helping local businesses host Ride2Work Day breakfasts on Wednesday 12 October 2016.

Held annually in spring, National Ride2Work Day is the largest celebration of commuter riding in Australia. It celebrates the benefits of riding to work and brings together the communities that support it.

The first 20 local businesses to register a Ride2Work Day breakfast will receive a $50 voucher for catering and a prize pack with maps and information to help get staff pedalling.

By registering with Council, businesses will also go into the draw to win $1,000 to spend on items such as bike parking, tools, pumps and other accessories or infrastructure.

Businesses who have 10 or more staff participate in Ride2Work Day could also win a $300 voucher for dinner at a local restaurant.

More than 150,000 Australians are expected to demonstrate the power of the pedal on Ride2Work Day 2016.

Here is how local businesses can get involved:

  • Register your business and nominate a workplace coordinator by email Transport – registrations close on the Wednesday 28 September 2016.
  • Organise and promote your workplace celebration for Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 12 October 2016. Consider the time, food, drinks and invitations that will work best for your workplace.
  • Run your breakfast and have a good time. Fill in the feedback and sign-up sheet to go in the running for our major prizes.
  • Celebrate your efforts! Take photos, and promote the event to staff through internal channels and externally with your customers.
