Boroondara resident Peter Bol is a rising star in the world of international athletics.

At the age of just 22, Peter Bol will be representing Australia in the 800 metres, with the heats starting on12  August 2016, along with two other members of the Australian Athletics team.

Bol’s road to Rio and his rise to glory hasn’t been straight. He was born in Sudan and at the age of 10 moved to Australia with his family.

Peter moved from Perth to Boroondara in 2015, to work under coach Justin Rinaldi, who trains the current Australian record holder of the 800 metres.

Council is proud to support Peter in his first Olympics through our Individual Active Community Achievement Grants program, which supports our residents to travel to compete in national and international events.

“The feeling is unreal; something I’ve dreamt about for so long is slowly coming into reality," Peter said.
