This year’s annual Boroondara Volunteer Awards ceremony was held on 1 December at an International Volunteer Day celebration. This annual ceremony is to recognise outstanding volunteers and volunteer programs making a positive difference in our community.

Meet our new Volunteer Award winners

Jenny Cash (pictured above in the front row on the right) won the Boroondara Volunteer of the Year Award, recognising her contribution to the community as a volunteer with the University of the Third Age (“U3A”) in Deepdene since 2010. U3A helps people from across the community to learn new skills from workshops, seminars and courses, and they give people - especially seniors - the chance to connect socially.

Friends of South Surrey Park (represented by the group’s founder Pam Welsford, pictured above in the centre of the front row) won the Boroondara Volunteer Program Impact Award. The organisation brings together Boroondara residents from across local neighbourhoods to help maintain and improve South Surrey Park.

We also recognised a group of Special Commendation recipients, and acknowledged the significant contribution that their volunteering has made and continues to make to the community.
