The Balwyn Community Centre in Surrey Hills will undergo a $6.9m upgrade to meet the needs of the community now and in the future.

The upgrade to the Balwyn Community Centre (BCC) at 412 Whitehorse Road, Surrey Hills will improve the park and open spaces, provide additional and more functional internal spaces, and relocate Balwyn Maternal and Child Health Centre to the site.

Council has been co-designing this redevelopment with the BCC, residents and other local stakeholders since April 2016 and now has a draft concept plan for your consideration.

You are invited to attend an event or complete a survey.

  • Complete the survey (survey now closed) before 2 April 2017
  • Attend a workshop in March or April 2017.

Your feedback will be used to develop a final concept plan for the BCC site.

In mid-2017, the community will be invited to provide feedback to ensure the final concept plan responds to the needs of the current and future Balwyn community.

Note that the BCC parklands and building character will be maintained, and the community centre and childcare will continue to provide services and programs on the site. During the redevelopment (expected in 2018), all activities will continue to run on-site or in temporary locations.
