Today we welcome the Year of the Ox as the Lunar New Year celebrations begin. In Chinese culture, it is believed that the Ox is a symbol of wealth, prosperity, diligence and perseverance.

This is an important time of year for many of our Chinese, Vietnamese and Korean residents and businesses throughout Boroondara.
Although celebrations may look a little different this year, Lunar New Year remains an important time for families and friends to come together and mark the occasion in a COVIDSafe way.

Significant dates like Lunar New Year are important for us all to reflect on and to recognise, as they contribute to the diversity and rich culture of our vibrant City.

On behalf of Council, I wish all of our residents who celebrate Lunar New Year a very happy and fortuitous Year of the Ox.
