Coronavirus update 13 March 2020

COVID-19 restrictions: what's closed and what's open.

Over the next few days, billions of people around the world will celebrate Christmas with family, friends and neighbours in their own special way.

Our City is alive with a contagious festive spirit. Our shopping strips and fresh food markets are buzzing as everyone finalises their plans and prepares for their celebrations.

While Christmas is a time full of love, gifts, celebrating timeless traditions and creating new memories, it is also a time for reflection. As the year comes to an end, take this opportunity to consider what we are truly grateful for, to pause and give thanks for our abundant blessings.

We can lift ourselves and others as well when we cultivate within our hearts an attitude of gratitude. If ingratitude be numbered among the serious sins, then gratitude takes its place among the noblest of virtues.

Christmas is a season of great joy for many of us; however, it can also be a challenging time of year for others. Please spare a thought for those who may not be as fortunate or are without loved ones.

On behalf of Council, I wish all our residents a safe and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I hope this festive season is filled with joy, happiness and gratitude and wish you the very best for 2020.
