Some of our services have different times over the holidays, including household bin collections previously scheduled for Christmas and New Year's Day. See all affected services.

On Wednesday 5 December 2018, our City will formally acknowledge and thank our community of volunteers for their efforts.

To recognise the United Nation’s International Volunteer Day, we will host a special volunteer celebration to honour those who give their time so generously.

During the ceremony, I look forward to officially announcing our 2019 Boroondara Volunteer of the Year, who promises to set an outstanding example and inspire us all.

In 2016, the Census revealed over 26% of our total population had donated their time to support local causes, far higher than any other metropolitan city in Victoria.

I am proud of Boroondara’s generous spirit and have witnessed first-hand our community responding to the needs of local community organisations. For example, local residents offer their professional experience to Boards and other skilled volunteer projects, deliver meals and library items to the elderly, nurture our unique plant-life and coordinate our city’s lively community festivals.

Boroondara’s volunteers are actively achieving our vision for the future: creating a vibrant and inclusive city, meeting the needs and aspirations of our community.
