Over Easter (Friday 19 to Monday 22 April) and on Anzac Day (Thursday 25 April), some of our services and centres may be closed or have different hours. Please see details of all affected services.

There are so many great things about living in Boroondara, and we are particularly blessed by the diversity and enthusiasm of our community members. This especially comes to the fore when there is something to celebrate.

Today is the beginning of Diwali, the five-day Hindu ‘festival of lights’. It is a festival I’ve always enjoyed not only for the beauty of the lights that decorate homes and streets, but because of what it symbolises.

It’s a time of great positivity, where people let bygones be bygones, consciously let go of negativity, go out of their way to spread happiness and celebrate with family and friends. It’s something that everyone can embrace, as we all need moments of light and hope to fuel our lives and Diwali delivers this in spades.

My enjoyment might also have something to do with the feast of delicious food and tooth-tingling sweets available…

If you are celebrating over the coming days, I wish you a happy Diwali.
