Taking pride in diversity and equality

IDAHOBIT Day (International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Interphobia and Transphobia) is held annually on 17 May.

Discrimination against LGBTIQ+ people is unfortunately still common. The Pride in our Future: Victoria’s LGBTIQ+ Strategy 2022-32 states 58 per cent of LGBTQ+ Victorians faced unfair treatment based on sexual orientation in the previous 12 months.

Achieving equality requires all of us to come together and play our part. To mark the occasion, we’re hosting events and activities across our libraries and Youth Hub.

The rainbow pride flag will be flown outside the Camberwell Civic Centre to demonstrate our commitment to creating a community that embraces inclusiveness and equality for all groups, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, sexuality and gender.

You can get involved and show your support for the LGBTIQ+ community by wearing rainbow colours on 17 May.
