More than a quarter of Boroondara’s residents generously give their time to help others.
If you know of an exceptional person or program that deserves recognition, you can nominate them for the Boroondara Volunteer Awards.
Yvonne Giltinan (pictured) was recognised for her volunteer efforts leading community choir Yarra Gospel, as the joint winner of last year’s COVID-19: Outstanding Local Hero Award. Yvonne mobilised the choir’s 70 participants to meet online to sing together during the pandemic, investing hundreds of hours organising virtual rehearsals and concerts to keep the choir’s community spirit alive.
If you know a volunteer like Yvonne, or a wonderful volunteer-led program, put them forward for recognition. Nominations for the Boroondara Volunteer Awards are now open to all Australian citizens who volunteer for a community organisation in Boroondara.
