Summer is around the corner, and community sport is a great way to stay active during the warmer months.
Boroondara is home to a wealth of high-quality sportsgrounds and leisure facilities, and a wonderful grassroots sporting community. It’s little wonder our community sport participation rates are consistently high. With the sporting seasons ticking over to summer, now is the perfect time to join a local club.
Tennis
Let Wimbledon champ Ash Barty inspire you onto the court for a leisurely or competitive hit at one of Boroondara’s 22 clubs.
Swimming
Swimming is a great low-impact way to stay active year-round – and cool in summer. Our pools are open for lap swimming, aqua aerobics and lessons.
Athletics
Hop, skip and long jump your way to Stradbroke Park in Kew East, home to Kew Little Athletics Club.
Lawn bowls
Boroondara is home to an active bowls community, with clubs in Ashburton, Camberwell, Balwyn North, Glen Iris, Hawthorn and Hawthorn East.
Cricket
Cricket is great for staying active and social. Our thriving cricket community has 24 clubs across Boroondara.
Croquet
Kew Croquet Club offers competitive croquet and coaching. Or get a group together for a hit of social croquet.
Let us help with the cost
If the cost of joining a club is holding you back, Council offers Individual Participation Grants to help cover the cost of fees. To be eligible, you just need to live in the City of Boroondara, hold a government means-tested card, and choose an eligible Boroondara sporting club (not for profit).
