Many of our youngest residents have been enjoying Storytime Online the past few months.
The initiative to transfer the usual face-to-face sessions online was taken so members could continue to enjoy the popular sessions while in lockdown.
All the usual storytime sessions are available including tiny tots storytime for toddlers, Chinese storytime in Mandarin, preschool storytime and ‘sing, baby, sing’ or babies’ storytime.
Each session can be downloaded as a video featuring picture books read aloud by our staff who would normally lead storytime sessions in our libraries.
These videos are shared on the Boroondara Library Service Facebook page, and can also be found on our website.
Kim Sia, local Kew East resident and her two young children, have been regularly watching the Chinese Storytime Online videos. “They get super excited when they understand certain terms as they both learn Chinese at school,” Kim said.
“My daughter really likes the singing part as she enjoys music and dancing and brings her own toys to sing and dance. It’s a unique experience and as long as my children enjoy it, we will continue doing it.”
