Help kids build healthy habits
It’s almost that time of year again, when thousands of Victorian primary school children will join the popular VicHealth Walk to School program.
The Walk to School initiative is a free, easy and fun way to get primary school kids and families active. During October, primary school children are encouraged to walk, ride or scoot to and from school so they can help build healthy habits for life.
The program is a great way to help children achieve the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity every day, as well as make a positive difference to our health, environment and community.
Why not take the opportunity to walk to school with your kids and enjoy the chance to talk with them and teach them road safety skills, while getting active yourself? Now is the time to ensure your school is on board. Chat with other parents and check with the school office if your school has registered to participate.
Once again, we are supporting and encouraging local schools to participate by offering a range of incentives for children, parents and teachers.
Last year, 21 primary schools across Boroondara took part in the program. Help make Walk to School even bigger and better in 2019.
