Community bus service

We offer a range of bus transport services and programs for seniors aged 65 years and over living in Boroondara. These services have been trusted and valued in the community for over 20 years and are ideal for those who are living independently at home and looking for opportunities to socialise with others.

Our community bus service provides door-to-door transport to shopping centres, recreation centres, local libraries or specialised seniors services and programs.

We also run an excursion program which offers varied, all-day excursions once a month, picking clients up from their home and dropping them back at the end of the day.

Excursions include visits to galleries, historic homes and gardens, museums and movie screenings, followed by lunch.

Enthusiastic excursion participant, Trudi Beiber from Balwyn North, has been part of the program for over two years and absolutely loves it.

“My husband suffers from dementia, so it’s been a great outlet for me to be social and mix with others my own age,” Trudi said.

“Each outing involves a different activity or venue but some of my favourite excursions have been visiting the antique shops and listening to talks on road safety and driving tips for seniors.

“It’s a great day out and I always look forward to the next excursion!”

To access the community bus service or participate in the excursion program, Boroondara residents must be 65 years or over and be approved for the Commonwealth Home Support Program by My Aged Care.
