With the Victorian election fast approaching, campaigning activity has hit our streets.
The City of Boroondara supports election campaign activities in line with freedom of expression and fair access.
We are continuing to review election campaign advertising – including the placement of banners, posters and stickers – to make sure it doesn’t impact public safety or spaces in Boroondara.
We have a website page that outlines whether campaign activity requires a permit, such as placing stalls on footpaths, or is allowed to go ahead, such as signage on private land.
The City of Boroondara is obligated to act on campaigning activity that affects the community on Council-controlled land or assets – including our parks, footpaths, bins, as well as public utilities like power poles.
If you see campaign activity that might not comply with Council laws, you can report it for us for review. For more information, visit our Promotional activities for elections page.
