Campaign against gender violence

The 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence campaign, which runs from 25 November to 10 December, is a worldwide effort to create awareness, facilitate conversations, and challenge issues of violence against women and gender inequality.

We all have a role to play in the prevention of gender-based violence. The City of Boroondara will host a number of events across the campaign to encourage conversations and raise awareness of violence against women. Tackling gender-based violence starts with teaching and learning about respectful relationships, challenging stereotypes and promoting equality for all.

Women’s Health East partners with Council on health promotion, family violence and gender equality issues through the Together For Equality and Respect partnership. Its recent Margins to Mainstream campaign highlights the prevalence and seriousness of violence against women with disabilities.

Women with disabilities who participated in the campaign said: “Equality is living free from violence, abuse and discrimination.”
