The Local Law for Protection of Council Assets and Control of Building Sites has been updated.
Adopted by Council on 23 August, the updated Local Law for Protection of Council Assets and Control of Building Sites came into effect on 1 September.
If you’re currently planning for building works, there are changes that may affect you, including changes to the way you need to conduct your works and increased penalties for breaches of the Local Law.
The purpose of the Local Law is to:
- Protect Council assets from damage caused by any building works
- Ensure building works are conducted safely and do not pose a risk to the community
- Act as a deterrent to prevent activities that damage Council assets
- Provide for the administration and enforcement of the Local Law to ensure assets are reinstated to Council standards.
