If you want to learn what it means to ‘add life to your years’ – look no further than Boroondara’s own Beryl Jones, our Add Life ambassador.
It’s a volunteer role that Beryl carries through with great pride, where she supports people in her community who are looking for ways to get active through the new ‘Over 55s‘ section on the City of Boroondara’s website.
The retired school teacher has dedicated the last 25 years to volunteering and sees her new role as Add Life ambassador as a way to encourage people to embrace the variety of wellbeing opportunities on offer across Boroondara.
“I am pleased to be part of this fantastic initiative and I hope to see some great success in the community for this program,” Beryl said.
The ‘Over 55s‘ section on the website offers more than 500 health and wellbeing activities and events.
“You can find activities to increase your fitness, expand your knowledge, explore your creativity, make new friends and more,” Beryl said.
Beryl is an active member of the community. She goes to the gym five times a week, attends Tai Chi classes and is a frequent visitor to the Balwyn Library.
She knows first-hand the benefits of having an active lifestyle and wants to encourage others to get involved and participate in the vast array of activities on offer.
“As you age, an active lifestyle becomes more important than ever for maintaining good health. Being physically and mentally active is good for your body, your mind and your health. You also feel sharper, more energetic and experience a greater sense of wellbeing,” Beryl said.
