Stay safe in the heat this summer

Extreme heat can affect everyone, and can cause illnesses that can lead to life-threatening conditions. Here are some tips to keep yourself and those around you safe during the hottest months of the year:

  • Drink plenty of water and provide water for those in your care
  • Never leave children, adults or pets in cars
  • Stay somewhere cool and keep your home as cool as possible
  • Plan ahead and keep up to date with weather forecasts
  • Check in on others and look after those most at risk in the heat – your neighbour living alone, older people, young children, people with a medical condition and your pets. If you or anyone you know feels unwell on a hot day call NURSE-ON-CALL on 1300 60 60 24, or call 000 in an emergency.

For more tips and information visit Better Health survive the heat.

Help shape your community

Since December 2020, more than 4,000 people provided feedback on what was important to them, their family and their community now and in the future.

You will attend two to three workshops in March and April 2021 to consider how we will meet our community’s needs based on the feedback we received.
