Summer fun these school holidays
Keep the kids entertained and kick boredom to the kerb this summer with our summer school holiday program.
The program is jam-packed full of fun, educational and interactive virtual events and activities. Ranging from Bollywood dancing and National Gallery of Victoria Kids on Tour through to creating recyclable fashion with tie-dying – there’s something for everyone to enjoy.
Whether you’re spending the school holidays at home or at the beach, kids can also explore our library digital collection, including the latest '130-Storey Treehouse' by Andy Griffiths and Terry Denton as an eBook or eAudio.
Events and activities include ticketed, low cost and free options, catering to toddlers, children and young people up to 18 years of age. The school holiday program runs throughout January.

Prevent and report fire hazards
We all play a role in keeping our community safe during the fire season, so it’s important to ensure your property is not a fire risk this summer.
All residents are required by our Amenity Local Law to keep their property free of fire hazards, by mowing lawns regularly, storing building materials and firewood neatly away from your house and fence lines, and removing dead foliage, leaves and undergrowth from outdoor areas.
We investigate reports of potential fire hazards, with annual property inspections underway and continuing through to February 2021.
Catch up on missed vaccinations
We know this year has created many disruptions for students, including missing important vaccinations they would usually receive through our Secondary School Immunisation Program. These include:
- Year 7 – human papillomavirus and diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough (pertussis)
- Year 10 – meningococcal ACWY.
Our immunisation service is offering free catch-up sessions for all Boroondara students. To book an appointment visit our Immunisation page.
Who is our Citizen of the Year?
Boroondara’s Citizen of the Year 2021 will be named at Council’s Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony on Tuesday 26 January. The award recognises those who have shown exceptional leadership or commitment towards improving the quality of life for others in the Boroondara community.
Event details may change in line with directives from the Victorian Government on COVID-19 restrictions.

Boroondara Library Service
Boroondara Library Service has been adapting since COVID-19 restrictions began in March 2020.
Our events have moved to online participation and there has been a greater focus on digital collections such as eBooks, audiobooks, e-magazines and online information resources, as well as book deliveries and Bundle & Collect services.
As we approach the festive and holiday season, our service delivery may change in line with the Victorian Government’s directions related to COVID-19. We will email members with updates to inform of any changes as they occur.
