We know the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic has been, and continues to be, a challenging time for our local businesses. To support the sustainability and growth of Boroondara business, we have implemented a range of initiatives and changed the way we deliver some of our services.
New grant funding
Operating in the online environment has become increasingly important following the outbreak of COVID-19. To support and build the capacity of our small businesses, we launched the Small Business Resilience grants program.
The funding will support businesses to pivot their business model and develop or improve their online capabilities, enabling them to more effectively compete with the growing number of services and products sold and provided online.
Online workshops and mentoring sessions
Our business workshops and mentoring sessions provide opportunities to learn new skills, address challenges and connect with like-minded people. To ensure our business community can continue to access these opportunities during this challenging time, we’ve taken them online.
The sessions are being held more often, and at different times of the day, to make them more convenient for people. Workshops cover topics specially selected to help businesses adapt to tough new market conditions resulting from the impacts of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
Better approvals for business
Getting your head around the various Council permits required to start or change a business can be overwhelming. In response, we’ve
established the Business Support Service to provide broad business advice and support to new and established businesses in Boroondara, including guidance with Council permits. As a result, business owners may save time and be freed up to focus on what matters most – working on and growing their business.
