Food Organics and Garden Organics update

Bin collection frequency changes with FOGO

From Monday 4 May 2020, our new Food Organics and Garden Organics kerbside bin collection service will commence for residents in single dwellings and in blocks of up to three units. These residents will be able to start putting food and garden waste in the same bin from this date.

To support this new service, the frequency of bin collections will also change from Monday 4 May. Your FOGO bin and your recycling bin will be collected weekly. With food and garden waste being diverted into your FOGO bin, your waste (landfill) bin collection will change from weekly to fortnightly.

Your FOGO bin

Residents who have a green waste bin will have their orange bin lid swapped over to a lime green FOGO lid. We are currently in the process of switching bin lids. Residents who don’t have a green waste bin will receive a new FOGO bin. A FOGO starter pack providing more information about the new service is also being delivered, including a new waste bin collection calendar.

We are committed to supporting residents with their transition to the new FOGO service. Read our tips and find out more at Food Organics and Garden Organics (FOGO).

FOGO rollout for residents of units and apartments

Do you live in a block consisting of 4 to 15 units or apartments?

Does Council collect your kerbside bins?

If you answered yes to both questions, you will be part of the second phase of our FOGO rollout, taking place between May 2020 and June 2021.

We are seeking expressions of interest from residents in the second phase of the rollout who would like to commence FOGO earlier. To determine if your property complex is eligible, please complete the online survey before 1 June 2020 and our Waste Team will be in touch with you.
