Outdoor trading is back for summer

To help local traders get back to business quickly and safely, we’ve enabled more outdoor trading opportunities right across Boroondara.

After the overwhelmingly positive response from businesses and our community, we’re excited to help bring Boroondara’s streets back to life once more this summer with the return of outdoor trading.

Many outdoor trading spaces were introduced across Boroondara from late-2020 to help the local economy recover from the impacts of COVID-19, and to support businesses in accommodating more customers in a COVID-safe way.

With COVID-19 restrictions eased and metro Melbourne well on its way along the Victorian Government’s Roadmap, season two of outdoor trading is here.

It includes businesses making use of footpaths with the help of our new, fast-tracked temporary footpath trading permits, businesses trading in public spaces, and others trading on their own land (such as courtyards).

Additionally, parklets are back due to popular demand, with a number of the most well-used parklets from 2020-21 reinstated and extended in Ashburton, Camberwell, Balwyn, Hawthorn and Hawthorn East.

These outdoor trading opportunities will remain a feature of our suburbs over the summer, and we’re continuing to waive all permit fees until the end of March 2022.

Be sure to get behind Boroondara businesses this summer by choosing to dine at your favourite local cafes, restaurants, pubs and bars.
