We are proposing to install 4 new LED sports field training lights at Frog Hollow Reserve and would like the community’s feedback.
Why is the project being considered?
The Boroondara Community Plan shows that the community values the City’s parks and green spaces and wants facilities which are fit for purpose and accessible.
Sport and recreation plays a vital role in maintaining and improving community health and wellbeing. Boroondara has experienced growth in organised sport, particularly junior and female teams, across the municipality.
Many local sporting grounds are at capacity with limited ability to cater for growing demand, which makes this potential lighting project so important.
The sports field at Frog Hollow Reserve does not currently have training lights installed, which limits the use of this ground over the winter months. The installation of training lights would improve conditions for local sporting clubs by providing a safer facility on weeknights across the winter season. These lights would also improve the visibility of surrounding pathways for casual visitors.
