About traffic in Boroondara
As our population grows, so does the number of vehicles on our roads. This will place ongoing pressure on traffic moving through - and generated within - Boroondara, and we know that decisions on how we manage this traffic directly impacts the liveability and amenity of the City.
Consultation feedback (June 2018)
Thank you to everyone who provided input on Council’s draft Traffic Management Policy and Traffic Management Procedures. Your input provided helpful insights and has assisted in finalising our approach to the way we manage traffic in Boroondara.
We received responses from a broad cross-section of the community across ages, suburbs and interests. This included feedback from local residents, local employees, and shoppers/visitors. The majority of respondents supported Council’s proposed key policy changes:
- Road classification system for the local road network
- Investigating traffic volume concerns
- Investigating road safety and traffic speed concerns
- Community engagement processes for traffic concerns
- Support levels required to implement traffic management measures.
With ongoing pressure from traffic moving through and generated within Boroondara, the new Traffic Management Policy and Traffic Management Procedures will help ensure that the decisions we make balance the needs of stakeholders, while protecting our City’s liveability and amenity.
