Thank you for your participation in this consultation. We have considered all feedback and decided on an outcome.
During the winter sports season (April - August), use of Stradbroke Park north oval may now be allocated as follows:
- On Friday evenings, the ground will be available as an overflow ground for any booking or allocations on the south oval. This will enable teams who are already training on the south oval to spread across both grounds.
- On Monday and Friday evenings, the north oval will not be available for use as a stand-alone seasonal club allocation.
- On Monday and Friday evenings, the north oval will only be available for less intensive uses, such as non-sporting club use, overflow sporting club use from the south oval or use of a short duration of up to one hour.
Note: This consultation was originally scheduled to close on Sunday 15 July, but has been extended until midnight Tuesday 17 July.
From Friday 8 June 2018, Council will trial the use of the North Oval at Stradbroke Park, Kew East, for sports clubs to access on Friday nights from 5.30pm– 6.30pm. The trial period is six weeks.
Council is mindful of the impacts that active sport has on local residents in terms of traffic, noise and light spill. With this in mind weeknight use of Stradbroke Park has historically focused activity on the south oval, with the north oval only being allocated on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Council is not seeking to allocate an additional club to Stradbroke Park, but is looking to create more flexibility in how the site is used by the existing sports clubs.
With this in mind, Council will run a six week trial where the club using the south oval on Friday nights can spill over to the north oval for one hour between 5.30pm and 6.30pm.
The trial parameters are specifically to make the north oval available as an overflow ground for clubs using the south oval (that is, it will not be separately booked to a new club).
