We invited members of the community to provide feedback on the City of Boroondara’s draft Waste Minimisation and Recycling Strategy.

We sought community feedback to ensure the draft reflects the needs and concerns of the community. Community feedback will help inform the final recommendations for inclusion in the Waste Minimisation and Recycling Strategy 2017 - 2022, being presented to Council in October 2017.

Vision for the strategy

The strategy’s vision is to continue to further reduce waste sent to landfill, maximise recycling and provide efficient waste services to the Boroondara community.

Background

Council consulted the community when putting the draft strategy together. The strategy identifies key opportunities in areas of:

  • waste minimisation
  • community education
  • collection and recovery systems
  • the commercial sector and
  • waste and recycling infrastructure.

We will continue to work with the community to provide efficient and effective waste services and improve the natural and urban environment in a sustainable way.

The opportunities identified by the draft strategy will guide our strategic approach and recommendations for Boroondara waste and recycling services.
