Hawthorn Library Precinct Naming Project
The redeveloped precinct has a new name.
Site: 584-590 Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn
We are building a multi-purpose facility to provide range of services for children, families and the older community.
This involves construction of a new two-level building that will form part of a precinct linking diverse community services, including the Hawthorn Library.
The project had been temporarily named the Hawthorn Library Precinct project, but we felt it was important for the redeveloped site to have a name that accurately reflects the diversity of services and activities it will offer.

We thank all those who came together last year and participated in workshops to explore potential precinct names in the innovative Naming Project.
At the end of last year, Council resolved to name the new precinct the Hawthorn Community Precinct and to list all services and community groups located within the precinct on a naming sign erected at the time of building construction.
The artwork created as part of the Naming Project process will be used as part of the opening ceremony, along with pictures of the art workshops attended by representatives from key stakeholder groups.
