Consultation

During November and early December 2009, we consulted the community on some very early ideas from architects.

After talking to more than 80 Camberwell Library users, over 50 neighbours, and hearing back from over 500 people via an e-kiosk library survey, we produced an initial report which informed the architects' early concept plans.

During April and May 2010, Council conducted another round of community consultation on the second iteration of the Camberwell Library concept plans through a variety of approaches. Approximately 200 people participated, with each of the community engagement approaches focusing on different aspects of the project. Key community consultation findings were the social importance of a cafe, and a strong focus on ‘hi tech' opportunities, local history and heritage. This community consultation report is also available.

We thank all who participated.

Video clips

During the consultation period, to help you understand the concept plans, Council produced a short video to explain the inside of the library, the landscaping and the facade. The video comes in two parts.
