Transfer Station - Recycling Centre
In addition to regular bin collections, you can dispose of waste and recyclables at Council's waste and recycling centres.

The Transfer Station and Recycling Centre will be closed Christmas Day and New Years Day. Open all other days over Christmas and New Year at normal operating hours.
Opening hours:
- 1pm - 4pm Monday to Friday, for all types of waste
- 8am - 4pm Saturday, for all types of waste
- 8am - 4pm Sunday, for green waste and recycling drop-off centre only
Closed: Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Years Day.
Transfer station fees and charges
Household waste, general waste (such as disused household appliances) and green waste can be disposed of at the Boroondara Transfer Station - charges apply.
EFTPOS available. Visa, Mastercard, Diners and AMEX cards accepted.
Residents can dispose of general recyclables, such as those collected by Council's weekly collection service, free of charge at the Transfer Station Recycling Drop-off Centre.

- aluminium and steel cans
- clothes
- computers
- car batteries
- household batteries
- e-waste
- oil
- light globes
- paint (residents only)
- gas bottles (residents only).
- polystyrene (All clean white Expanded Polystyrene Foam(EPS) including fruit and vegetable boxes, packaging for small and large appliances)

Gross Vehicle Mass exceeding two tonne will not be accepted at this transfer station.
Free disposal of green waste on Sundays
Council provides a free service on Sundays to help residents dispose of large green waste materials. This free service complements the fortnightly green waste bin collections and is only available to Boroondara residents. A Council rate notice or utility bill and driver's licence are required to prove residency.
Non-residents and those unable to provide proof of residency will be charged a disposal fee.
Only green waste material can be disposed of as part of this service, no general waste material will be accepted at the Transfer Station on Sundays.
Only car boot loads, utilities or standard size trailers [no larger than 6ft (1.83m) x 4ft (1.2m) filled to water level] will be accepted. No tandem trailers, trucks or vans are allowed.
Garden maintenance providers or commercial providers are not eligible for this service. Fees will be charged for commercial providers.
The free disposal service is available at the Boroondara Transfer Station only on Sundays from 8am to 4pm. Disposal fees will be charged on all other days.
Education Centre
An environmental education centre has been established at the Riversdale Depot to educate local primary school students on waste minimisation and recycling.
The centre is fitted out with educational displays of recycling methods, and products made from recycled materials. Schools can bring groups of children to tour the transfer station and participate in waste and recycling educational activities.

- 10am-2pm Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays
Closed: Good Friday, Christmas Day and New Years Day
Only accepts paper, cardboard, plastics (code 1 to 7), glass bottles and jars, aluminium and steel cans.
No general waste or green waste will be accepted.
Council maintains these recycling facilities for safe use by residents.
Dangerous and any inappropriate items should not be disposed of at these facilities.
