Road safety
We are committed to improving road safety and reducing the number of road crash fatalities and injuries in Boroondara.
The key objectives of our Road Safety Strategy are:
- support and complement the Victorian Government's road safety strategy and actions through a "Safe System" approach to road safety
- improve the safety of all road users and the further reduction in the number of road casualty crashes in Boroondara
- improve the links between Council, VicRoads, Victoria Police, RoadSafe Inner Eastern, schools, road user groups, business groups and community groups.
Key road safety initiatives include:
- coordination and leadership of road safety
- children and young persons safety from early childhood and through schooling
- arterial roads traffic management
- local streets traffic management
- impacts of alcohol and drugs on safety of all road users
- safer drivers, safer roads and safer vehicles
- pedestrian safety
- bicycle safety
- motorcycle safety
- safer travel for older people and people with a disability
- public transport safety.
Through this strategy, we can ensure that we remain an active road safety leader and that road safety is improved for all Boroondara residents.
