Kindergarten Central Enrolment

Make enrolment easier for you and your child by using our Central Enrolment Scheme for 21 of the 30 community-managed kindergartens in Boroondara.

Boroondara Kindergarten Central Enrolment Scheme (BKCES)

Council operates central enrolment for 21 of Boroondara's 30 community-managed kindergartens. We work in collaboration with kindergarten committees to develop a consistent process for families.

Here you will find all the information you need to apply to these kindergartens.

To apply to any kindergarten which is not part of the Central Enrolment Scheme, view the complete list of kindergartens located within Boroondara. Please note that most of Boroondara's Long Day Care Centres also operate registered kindergarten programs.

Kindergarten vacancies

There are vacancies in four-year old funded programs in 14 kindergartens across Boroondara, particularly in the Balwyn and North Balwyn area.

There are also limited vacancies remaining for three-year old kindergarten programs in a select number of BKCES participating kindergartens, these vacancies are primarily in the Balwyn area with minimal vacancies available in Surrey Hills and Glen Iris.

Please note: due to the phasing in of a new policy, there are currently two application forms available.

This information kit and application form (a single document) is for three-year-old entry in 2012 and four-year-old entry in 2012 and 2013.

This information kit and application form (two separate documents) is for three-year-old entry from 2013 onwards and four-year-old entry from 2014 onwards.

BKCES application forms are also available from BKCES Member Kindergartens, Maternal and Child Health Centres, Libraries and Council Offices.  We are also happy to mail you a hard copy of any forms you need.

 

All enrolment enquiries should be directed to the BKCES Central Enrolment Officer on 9278 4444 or email BKCES.

A change of application details form is also included in the kit, or is available as a separate page. Use this form to change your preferences if you have already applied. If you change your preference before the end of Term 2 in the year preceding attendance, the original date of application is kept. However, a change of preference after this time will result in your application being placed at the end of the waiting list.

How do I apply?

Obtain a BKCES Application Form from libraries, maternal and child health centres, member kindergartens, Council Offices or from this page.

How many kindergartens can I indicate a preference for?

You can preference up to 5 kindergartens- however, if you have a clear preference for one kindergarten it would be advantageous to nominate all groups within that service.

Is it too late to apply for 2012 enrolment?

You can still lodge an application for 2012 enrolment, however, your application will be placed on the waiting list according to the day Council receives your application.

When will I find out about my 2013 place?

2013 offers will be made in August 2012. If you were unsuccessful in the first round of offers, you will be notified of your position range on the waiting list. Subsequent offers will be made as places become available. You will be contacted by mail if a place becomes available.

How do you rank applicants?

The selection criteria are in the BKCES Information Kit.  If you require further clarification on any issues, refer to the relevant Enrolment Policy.

When can I lodge an application?

Apply when your child turns two years of age. 

How do I change my preferences?

Download and complete a Change of Application Details Form.  You will receive an updated application acknowledgement when its processed.
