Alexandra Gardens were opened in 1905. Play 18 holes of golf at the Freeway Golf Course. Yarra Bank Reserve is a good example of mixed planting rock garden with lawn areas for relaxation and picnics.

Park bookings and fees

Several of our delightful heritage gardens and leafy parks are popular among residents and the wider community for hosting celebrations of all kinds.

The following gardens with their beautiful plantings and established trees provide an ideal setting for a wedding ceremony:

  • Alexandra Gardens, Cotham Road, Kew (Melway 45 C6) is a Federation style garden typical of the early 1900s and features an ornamental pond and rotunda.
  • Canterbury Gardens, Canterbury Road, Canterbury (Melway 46 D11) is an example of the Gardenesque style of gardens from the early 1900s and also features a rotunda.
  • Maranoa Gardens, Yarrbat Avenue, Balwyn (Melway 46 F7) is a botanic garden designed to exhibit the superb flora found in Melbourne and other regions.

This is excellent information for walkers, joggers and runners - find out the perimeter measurements of over 60 ovals in Boroondara. Visit a new sportsground and ring the changes in your exercise pattern by taking on a new distance every week.
