Cycling and walking

  • From Mont Albert Road there is a walking path through the John August and Evergreen Reserves which gets you to Whitehorse Road and the Library in about 5 minutes.
  • The Outer Circle Trail bike and walking path runs through the suburbs of Ashburton, Glen Iris, Camberwell, Balwyn and Kew. Take the trail to Mont Albert Road and then ride along Mont Albert Road and through the John August and Evergreen Reserves to reach the Library.
  • There are many informal cycling routes near the Library including Weybridge Street, Conway Crescent, Rochester Road, Gordon Street and Grovedale Road.
    Nearby roads like Mont Albert Road, Balwyn Road and Union Road have on road bicycle lanes.

Trams

Box Hill – Port Melbourne (Route 109)

Get off this tram at stop 48 or 49 walk 2 minutes along Whitehorse Road to the library.

Box Hill – Victoria Harbour Docklands (Route 42)

Get off this tram at stop 48 or 49 walk 2 minutes along Whitehorse Road to the library.

Buses

Doncaster Shoppingtown – Camberwell (Route 285)

Get off at the corner of Balwyn and Whitehorse Roads and walk a few minutes east along Whitehorse Road to the Library.

Melbourne – Eildon (Route 684)

Get off at the corner of Mont Albert Road and Talbot Avenue and walk north up Talbot Avenue for 3 minutes until you reach Whitehorse Road.

Trains

Belgrave/Lilydale Line to Chatham Station

From Chatham Train Station it is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the Library. Get off at the station and walk along Faversham Road and cross over Mont Albert Road.  Walk along the walking path through the John August and Evergreen Reserves until you reach Whitehorse Road.
