Venue details

The Kew Court House is a charming heritage building that has been redeveloped into a thriving contemporary community cultural centre.

It is located in the heart of Kew Junction at 188 High Street, Kew (Melway 45 D6) and is surrounded by a great range of shops, cafes and restaurants, and is in close proximity to the Kew Library and Kew Recreation Centre.

The venue provides a range of facilities including an intimate performance space with excellent audio and lighting capabilities, a large meeting room or workshop area, and a community access gallery in the foyer that is suitable for small exhibitions.

Vision for Kew Court House

The Kew Court House will:

  • provide a dynamic hub of activities including performance and rehearsal spaces and meeting/administration rooms
  • operate as an arts and cultural development centre that focuses on multi-disciplinary art forms which are emerging, locally significant, appropriate to the venue and culturally enriching
  • create a synergy with the centre's heritage as an iconic historical building in Kew
  • celebrate innovative cultural product with a focus on community engagement
  • promote programs, activities and events that are accessible, affordable and inclusive
  • create a home for local arts and cultural groups
  • increase the range of social, recreational, cultural and educational activities delivered by Council and community organisations
  • assist in community strengthening through the: 
    • growth and development of community groups using the facility
    • interaction and collaboration between user groups
    • interaction between program participants
    • cooperation between Council and the community.
