Kew community festival

Surrey Hills Music Festival

  • When: Friday 20 November to Sunday 22 November 2015
  • Where: Surrey Hills Neighbourhood Centre, 157 Union Road, Surrey Hills.

The festival celebrates local musicians and performers, whilst bringing music from all countries and cultures to Union Road.

There will be great acts across a number of stages, demonstrations and workshops, plus the Festival Café and Bar.

All music from 12pm to 7.30pm is free.

The evening ticketed event sells out so make sure you book a ticket when they become available.

Kriskindl Festival

  • When: 5 to 9pm, Friday 4 December, 2015
  • Where: Mailing Road, Canterbury

Kriskindl Festival delivers a program that brings together residents, traders, and community groups to celebrate the "spirit of giving".

The festival has become part of the fundraising and community events of several community groups and schools and is patronised by generations of families. The event assists residents to participate in their community and encourages partnerships between volunteer organisations and community networks.

This annual free event is open to the general public with all profits going to charity.

Kew Community Carols by Candlelight

  • When: 6.30pm, Sunday 6 December, 2015
  • Where: Petrie Square, corner Cotham Road and Charles Street, Kew

This event provides a shared space in which residents of various cultural backgrounds and demographics can participate in a free, fun and uplifting experience.

Carols in the Park

Carols in the Park is held annually in December at Macleay Park, Balwyn North.

The Carols in the Park event is presented in a non-consumerist fashion and for the past 27 years is continuing to engender a spirit of community and goodwill in the area.

Carols in Grace Park

  • When: 5pm to 7pm, Sunday 13 December, 2015
  • Where: Grace Park, Hilda Crescent, Hawthorn

Boroondara Brass will be holding this event that not only celebrates the Christmas season in the traditional way but also contributes towards strengthening the sense of community throughout the Hawthorn/Glenferrie area.

It aims to provide a family friendly, non-denominational atmosphere showcasing the talents of Boroondara Brass, Exaudi Youth Choir and students from local Primary Schools.

Prior to the commencement of the carols there will be a sausage sizzle. Father Christmas will arrive during the course of the event.

Ashburton Community Festival

  • Where: High Street Shopping Centre, between Johnston Street and Carool Road, Ashburton

The Ashburton Community Festival has a tradition of encouraging performances from local schools and residents wishing to display their talent and hone their performing skills. The festival includes emerging creative groups that provide exciting new ideas that inspire community members to experience new art forms.

The festival presents a variety of events and activities throughout the duration of its program. The Kewmunity Day and Evening Concert (held at Victoria Park, Kew) includes a community parade, many diverse musical acts and presents as an opportunity to enhance community awareness between participants who are culturally and generationally diverse.

The Glenferrie Festival provides a space for the community to meet and enjoy all the sights, tastes and sounds of this vibrant and evolving community hub - connecting through food, entertainment, education, health, play and fun.

Burwood Village May Festival

  • When: 10am to 3pm, Saturday 1 May, 2016
  • Where: Burwood Village Shopping Centre, Toorak Road, between Warrigal Road and Charles Street, Camberwell

The festival celebrates everything local and is held at the Burwood Village Shopping Centre, where Toorak Road begins.  This community event offers something for everyone with live entertainment by local artists, hands-on workshops, roving acts and children’s activities. Be sure to take advantage of local traders and market stalls at this family-friendly affair.  It is a celebration full of fun, fun, fun with plenty of surprises for all.
