The new Solway Bridge for pedestrians and cyclists has opened to the public, but works will continue in January and February.

A number of temporary fences will still be in place pending these works, which includes the installation of a staircase to Solway Street, Ashburton, and retaining walls beside a shared path.

These works will require temporary path closures, but Council will make every effort to reduce inconvenience to the public.

The bridge was washed away by storms in February this year.
