Planning applications now online

7 July 2011

You can now view Boroondara planning applications at any time of the day or night. You can also view plans and supporting documentation for these planning applications where Council has required public notice to be given.

All you need is access to a computer; then log on to Council's website www.boroondara.vic.gov.au/planning-register .

"Residents will no longer have to visit a Council office or telephone planning staff to get the details when a notice board goes up or they get a letter in the mail about a planning application," said Boroondara Mayor Nicholas Tragas.

"Council's Planning Register is now online. Where Council has required public notice to be given anyone can view the full plans from their home or office. Council's online planning register is easy to use and provides up-to-date information. Residents can also see planning applications within their suburb or ward. Our website also contains information about the planning process, guidelines and assessment criteria and relevant forms," added Mayor Tragas.

Public notices of planning applications now contain a hyperlink to the Planning Permit Register where interested parties can view details of the application. Either the address of the property or the application number can be entered, both of which are on the notice. Upon access, readers get a summary including a map with application details, process and documents tabs to choose from.

Activating the application documents tab will provide access to a PDF file that provides details of the planning application. The PDF file can be opened, saved and printed. This documentation will be available from the date advertising commences and removed once a decision is made.

Objectors and supporters of the application are encouraged to make their views known to Council by mail, email or delivery to a Council office.
