Residents to have say on future of their neighbourhoods
3 February 2012
The City of Boroondara is giving local residents an opportunity to provide feedback about draft Neighbourhood Character Precincts Profiles to ensure Council has captured the key characteristics to each residential area.
This is a valuable opportunity for residents to contribute to Council's Neighbourhood Character Study, which will identify the key characteristics of Boroondara's neighbourhoods and feed into planning policies and design guidelines.
The study group has formulated a series of precinct profiles that cover the whole of the City, and residents can view and comment on these at the Planning For Our Future page.
Once residents have viewed the profile relevant to their neighbourhood, they are encouraged to provide their feedback through the consultation website.
The results from this second stage of community consultation will be fed back into the Neighbourhood Character Study. The aim of this study is to establish design guidelines that will protect the City's unique residential neighbourhoods.
Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Heinz Kreutz said this is a great opportunity for residents to have a say on the future shape of their area.
"Each part of our City has a distinct look and feel and we all want it to remain that way so that future generations have the opportunity to enjoy a similarly pleasant environment," Cr Kreutz said.
"Council is in constant contact with the community and we all want a definitive plan and direction that is tailored to this evolving planning landscape.
"I encourage all Boroondara residents to visit our website, consider the precinct profiles and let us know what you think."
Residents also have the opportunity to discuss the Neighbourhood Character Study and precinct profiles with Council's knowledgeable officers, at the following times and locations:
- City of Boroondara's Camberwell offices – 6.30pm to 7.30pm, Tuesday 7 February
- Ashburton Library – 3.30pm to 5.30pm, Thursday 9 February
