Canterbury Sports Pavilion reopens with new and improved facilities
27 January 2012
The City of Boroondara will unveil a revamped Canterbury Sports Pavilion in Surrey Hills at an opening ceremony on Saturday 28 January.
Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Heinz Kreutz will officially open the upgraded pavilion, which features improved disability access – including a bathroom for people with a disability – new change rooms, a new kitchen and a large community social room for functions, fundraisers and club get-togethers.
The project costs – $600,000 – were shared by Council and the pavilion's sporting club tenants: the Canterbury Cricket Club, Football Club and Junior Football Club.
The sporting clubs were involved in a consultation process, giving their feedback about the facilities and building layout, and how it might benefit their members.
The pavilion is also available for hire to local community groups that are interested in using the facilities for their activities and meetings.
