Discover a volunteering role at the Boroondara Volunteer Expo

14 February 2012

The seventh annual Boroondara Volunteer Expo is taking place on Wednesday 14 March and will feature representatives from more than 40 community organisations.

Held at the Hawthorn Town Hall, this free expo offers residents a great opportunity to find a volunteering role that suits them.

Mayor of Boroondara, Councillor Heinz Kreutz said that without our volunteers, the community simply would not be what it is today.

"Volunteers' selfless contribution makes this City a better place," Cr Kreutz said.

"They are unassuming, not interested in attention but simply keen to make a difference to the lives of those in need.

"These thoughtful and committed citizens invest their emotions and offer their skills for free – they make us proud."

There are many fields where local people can volunteer some of their time, including hospitals with allied health roles, community centres, organisations working with children or youth, disability support agencies, aged care providers, conservation and gardening groups, library services and special interest groups.
