WWI Boroondara Community Memorabilia Road Show

When: 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday 11 November

Where: Kew RSL, 63 Cotham Road, Kew

Be part of the digital revolution and preserve our local ANZAC legacy by contributing your family’s story to the Boroondara WWI Community Memorabilia Road Show.

The Road Show is an opportunity for you to learn about digital recording and a space to share your family photographs, artefacts and other relevant World War I memories.

Local historians and research experts will be on hand to help appraise and research your items and photographs. You will have the opportunity for your items to be professionally photographed and digitised for you to take away on a free CD-ROM or loaded onto your personal USB drive.

You can also choose to submit your photographed and digitised memorabilia for inclusion in the interactive exhibition staged as part of the official Boroondara Gallipoli and Beyond commemoration events in April 2015.

This event is free to attend but bookings are essential.

All our libraries have family and local history collections.

The local and family history collection includes:

  • books
  • photographs
  • maps
  • manuscripts
  • ephemera (programs, tickets, flyers etc.)
  • access to Ancestry and Find my Past (Australian and UK editions) For use in the library only.
  • access to various historical records on our PCs and microform readers.

Ask at the information desk for assistance accessing these resources.

While none of the material is available for loan, most items within these collections are available for referral within the library. However some records and documents are not available for public use because of the archival nature of the collection.

Accessing restricted collections

Use of Restricted Local History material is at the discretion of the Local and Family History Librarian as some of the material is both fragile and irreplaceable.

Members of the public may apply online for access to a restricted item or in person at one of the Libraries. Requests may take several days to process.

Local history photographs

The libraries have an extensive collection of local history photographs. Whilst these can be freely viewed on our web catalogue, they may be under copyright protection and cannot be reproduced without permission.

To order a copy of a photo or to get permission to publish them, you'll need to submit the relevant form, available below.
