Fairview Park

Fairview Park, also encompassing Wallen Reserve, is a large area of open space on the banks of the Yarra River.  The parks cover 5.6 hectares and are situated on the corner of Power Street and Riversdale Road in Hawthorn.  In the 1880’s this reserve was a popular destination by boat and was called ‘Tea Gardens.’  The current design of the park was implemented in the 1930’s, with many developments since them.

Presently, the park features a playground, toilets, sporting grounds, barbeques and rockwork which dates back to the early 1900’s.  Fairview Park is particularly suitable for picnics and barbeques and has extensive open spaces for walking and recreational activities.  It is also one of the most popular dog walking parks, with an off-lead designation.
