Electoral Representation Review
Council is required under the Local Government Act 1989 (the Act) to undertake a review of the electoral structure in the City of Boroondara before every second general election.
Council appointed the Victorian Electoral Commission (VEC) as the reviewer and the 2008 Electoral Representation Review commenced officially on 12 February 2008.
The VEC released their Preliminary Report on 8 April 2008, and their Final Report on 26 May 2008.
The Final Report recommended the City of Boroondara retain its existing structure of 10, single Councillor wards, with minor modifications to the boundaries of Glenferrie & Cotham Wards.
The report was sent to Mr Richard Wynne MP, Minister for Local Government who has accepted the VEC's recommendations.
The changes were Gazetted on 24 July 2008 and the new boundary structure will be in effect for the Council elections on 29 November 2008.
