The Boroondara Volunteer Resource Centre (BVRC) is a core service of the City of Boroondara and is committed to expanding and extending volunteer activities in Boroondara, and surrounding areas, through promoting, supporting and assisting the voluntary involvement of the community in community programs.
To facilitate this, the Centre offers a volunteer referral interview for prospective volunteers to find suitable volunteer work across the community with our member agencies.

The BVRC offers a program of training for volunteers and managers of volunteers.
Many people choose to combine volunteering and full-time or part-time work.

Some of the reasons people volunteer include meeting new people, gaining experience and staying active and involved in their community.
There is no such thing as a ‘typical’ volunteer who can be categorised by age, gender, race or religion. Volunteers are people from many different cultural backgrounds; from all age groups; a range of educational backgrounds and skill levels, both in and out of the paid workforce; and they are both male and female.
Volunteering covers a wide range of opportunities.
